
"ReconsidART," a show of new works on recycled materials by Sonoma County artists Ricky Watts and Nate Burleson opens Friday, July 10 at the Petaluma Mail Depot.
The artists have worked on a variety of surfaces, including cabinet doors, used skateboards, an old surfboard, a church pew, closet doors, scrap metal and drawings in recycled frames.
Watts, a 1998 graduate of Casa Grande High School and a 2002 graduate of the Art Institute of California - San Diego campus, works out of his Sebastopol studio. He has shown works up and down the west coast since 2003.
Burleson, a 2001 graduate of San Antonio High School and a self taught artist, has been creating art "as long as I've been able to hold a pen." Influenced by skateboarding, graffiti art and hip-hop, he is a leader in the art program at Petaluma's Phoenix Theater.
Opening reception is from 7 to 10 p.m. July 10. The show runs through July 31.
The Petaluma Mail Depot is at 40 Fourth Street in Petaluma. Hours are 8 a.m.to 6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. Call 707-762-8150 for more information.
