THIS FRIDAY NIGHT - ReconsidART opens in Petaluma

"ReconsidART," a show of new works on recycled materials by Sonoma County artists Ricky Watts and Nate Burleson opens Friday, July 10 at the Petaluma Mail Depot.

The artists have worked on a variety of surfaces, including cabinet doors, used skateboards, an old surfboard, a church pew, closet doors, scrap metal and drawings in recycled frames.

Watts, a 1998 graduate of Casa Grande High School and a 2002 graduate of the Art Institute of California - San Diego campus, works out of his Sebastopol studio. He has shown works up and down the west coast since 2003.

Burleson, a 2001 graduate of San Antonio High School and a self taught artist, has been creating art "as long as I've been able to hold a pen." Influenced by skateboarding, graffiti art and hip-hop, he is a leader in the art program at Petaluma's Phoenix Theater.

Juxtapoz Reader Art

Woke up this morning to a pleasant surprise. A while back, I had submitted some drawings to the website of my favorite art magazine - Juxtapoz. As I do on most mornings, I checked the Juxtapoz website while sipping some coffee and planning out my day. I almost choked when I saw a drawing that looked strangely close to something I had drawn recently. I had to re-read it twice but there I was, right there on the front page! What a great way to start a morning: Juxtapoz Website

Harmony Festival 2009

Spent this past weekend at the Harmony Festival in Santa Rosa, CA. Had a blast painting live with some great new friends and very talented artists. Here's what I created over the 3 day event. Special thank you for Michellee @ Rude Boyz Present who made it all happen.

Friday started off with a warm up, here's the progression of it.

...and finished version of the first piece.

Our spot in the Eco Cup, near the mega ramp where we got to watch some amazing pro skaters do what they do best.

Day two got a little trippy with some mushroom painting.

Day three wrapped up the event with some high powered rainbow sperm, Matrix style art.

All in all, I had a great time painting and thank you to everyone that stopped by to show love.

Project Buick

Those of you that follow my twitter feed , you already know that I've been painting "Project Buick" for the last three days. The elements took their toll on me; it was super windy, i got sun burnt and I have driveway rocks in my knees from working on the ground. I'm happy to say it's now complete and the finished product is photographed below. Watch out, here comes Hell on Wheels...

This is what it looked like before I "changed" it.

...and this is what the end result looked like.

AzyDoesIt... again

One of my very favorite people, Adrienne Smith, wrote a nice piece about me and my art & design career on her blog. Check it out HERE. Thank you so much, Adrienne, you're wonderful!

New Phoenix Rooftop photo by Steve Rotman

Steve Rotman, photographer for the book Bay Area Graffiti recently photographed the piece I painted on top of the Phoenix Theater roof top in 2007. Great shot, thank you Steve.
